Capturing you two in your element is MY biggest thrill. You bring the romance.
I'll bring the energy
Barn Swallow Farm is a barn wedding venue in Northampton, Pennsylvania, in Northampton County’s Lehigh Valley. This documentary-style wedding day centered on candid coverage, with only five to ten minutes set aside for portraits. The venue keeps catering, getting-ready space, and an in-house coordinator under one roof, and delivers some of the Lehigh Valley’s best sunsets.
Back at Barn Swallow Farm yet again, and these two were stunning in every way possible. Fun fact: Brendan hiked the entire Appalachian Trail by himself. I have not had a fun fact like that in all my years shooting.
But what really made this day was how clear they were about their priorities. They were focused on having fun with their friends and family, and they held that focus the whole way through. This is my honest advice to every single couple: it doesn’t matter what you want your day to look like, as long as it’s true to what you actually want. These two knew exactly what they wanted and they were very clear about it.
We had five to ten minutes for portraits. That’s not a lot of time for most photographers. It’s plenty for me.
Everything else was candids, and you’ll see them all throughout this gallery. Their number one focus was capturing real, authentic images of the people they loved and cherished enough to invite to their day. This is one of the biggest and most important milestones you can have in your entire life. I don’t want to be behind the camera the whole time making you stand and pose a certain way and ultimately fabricate something that could have been real. They didn’t want that either, so we were a great fit.
We spent the entire day making images that feel like you’re taken right back into the moment. Not every wedding day looks like this one. It’s just important that it looks like you.
Barn Swallow Farm also makes it very easy. Catering, getting ready, and an in-house coordinator are all in one spot under one roof. You’re not driving between locations, and you’re not waiting on a vendor who’s never set foot on the property. That means you get to focus on the things that matter most, which for these two was the people in the room.
Then there’s the light. Barn Swallow Farm gets some of the best sunsets in the Lehigh Valley, and that’s not a small thing when you’re choosing where to get married. Even on a day built almost entirely around candids, when that sky turns, we step outside for a few minutes. Combine that with everything else this place does well, and where could you possibly go wrong?
Barn Swallow Farm is a barn wedding venue in Northampton, Pennsylvania, in the Lehigh Valley. It hosts full wedding days on a single property, with getting-ready space, catering, and an in-house coordinator on site. I’ve photographed weddings at Barn Swallow Farm repeatedly, and the layout keeps everything close together.
Sunset is the best light at Barn Swallow Farm; some of the best in the entire Lehigh Valley. Protect ten or fifteen minutes at golden hour, even if you’re mid-reception. I’d rather pull a couple outside for that window than schedule an hour of portraits earlier in the day.
Less than you think. This couple gave us five to ten minutes at Barn Swallow Farm and we still got their portraits. Because the venue keeps everything on one property, you’re not losing time to travel. Short portrait blocks work when the rest of the day is covered documentary-style.
Yes. Getting ready, catering, and the in-house coordinator all live on the same property at Barn Swallow Farm, so there’s no travel block between locations and no handoff between vendors who’ve never worked together. That time goes back to you, usually into cocktail hour and the reception.
Look for someone who has actually shot Barn Swallow Farm and can work fast when portrait time is short. Ask to see full galleries, not highlights — candids are where a barn wedding lives. I shoot documentary-style, and couples often book both their engagement session and wedding coverage with me.
This day would have never come together the way it did for these two if it weren’t for the awesome team behind all the details! Here is a list of the vendors who took part of the day, and a link to their website if you want to go check them out!
