Do I Need A First Look?

First looks have the power to completely transform your wedding experience! We believe so strongly in them, and here’s why!

#1 – Your REACTIONS Are Incredible!

The reactions and emotions you get during a first look truly are some of the most unique and incredible during the entire wedding day. I mean, just LOOK at his face! There are so many eyes on you during the ceremony, it can often be challenging to fully relax and be present in the moment. First looks give you the ability to let loose when seeing each other for the first time and be your genuine selves, because guess what? Nobody’s watching!

#2 – You’re Getting TWO First Looks!

Take a look at the photo above, it’s the SAME GROOM from the first look in the picture before it! The main difference? This photo is during the ceremony. Does it look like having a first look impacted his reaction the second time around? We didn’t think so either!

Our couples always say the same thing: “Having a first look did not take away from the first time we saw each other during the ceremony!”. A first look and the march down the aisle are two completely different feelings that we think you and every couple should get to experience! I hear a lot of couples express that they want the first moment they see each other during the ceremony to be powerful, but trust us; he’s only going to be more excited to see you.

Especially since he knows what’s about to walk down that aisle. 😉

#3 – Time. Time. TIME! You Get So Much More Time.

When you have a first look you’re giving yourself the opportunity to get so many things out of the way BEFORE the ceremony. These are things that ordinarily you would not be able to do without seeing each other, such as:

• Portraits

• Family formals

• Bridal Party shots

Basically any shot where you both are in it can be taken before the ceremony and not during cocktail hour! You know what that means? You get to ENJOY cocktail hour. You’re not stressed for time wondering how on earth you’re going to fit everything into one hour! We can do it either way, but we know our couples are happier when they have a first look!

#4 – You Get to RELAX!

The nerves that everyone feels pre-ceremony are immediately lifted as soon as you see each other, so why not make that happen so much sooner?! The sooner you get to see each other, the faster you get to be 100% present in the moment. You get to experience the “We’re about to get MARRIED!” feeling together, and when we see it, it’s beautiful.

#5 – You get more PHOTOS

Just because this one is last doesn’t make it less important (Though we may be a little biased here!). Not only are the photos from a first look so different that it’s like adding on a completely new piece of the day, but you also get more time later for photos as well! Photographers are more available for cocktail hour or our personal favorite: getting creative or silly with the extra time we have left! It could be setting up an incredible shot and grabbing you both for it, or just getting more relaxed and fun shots with extra time. Either way, the possibilities for what we can do with extra time are endless, but they always end up with incredible results!

In the end, there’s no right or wrong way to plan your big day, but these 5 points are the reason why we believe first looks truly do enhance your wedding day to another level!
