Capturing you two in your element is MY biggest thrill. You bring the romance.
I'll bring the energy
Catalpa Grove at Lakewood Park is a gorgeous venue situated lakeside among the dense woods in Barnesville, PA. This isn’t our first time at Catalpa, and we hope it won’t be our last! The surrounding nature lends itself so beautifully to so many beautiful photography opportunities. The outdoor ceremony space is incredibly well put together, with a refined sense of rustic elegance that compliments the surrounding streams and tall trees wonderfully.
I’ve had the pleasure of photographing another wedding here in the fall, and I can safely say the beauty of this venue goes year round! If you’ve been around the site, you’ll notice we have a particular bias toward nature elements, so we get a little giddy when we know there’ll be plenty of it! Catalpa grove is the perfect space for anyone who wants a gorgeous rustic ballroom setting for their reception formalities and partying, but also wants those natural elements throughout their day and especially for their photography. Combine that with a lovely and easy to work with staff, you’ve got everything you need! We can’t wait to return, and hopefully it’ll be for your wedding day!
Kristen and Mark are rad. Plain and simple. When they reached out, we hit it off immediately on their consult call. This was the case even more on their engagement session at Simon Silk Mill! It was SO evident that they were in love with one another, and they just wanted to hang out with each other and their closest loved ones on their wedding day. That’s truly what it’s all about! Too often do we lose sight of what’s really important on the big day, but not these two. They understood that it’s being present on the wedding day no matter what happens that makes it truly something special, and that’s exactly what they did.
They had a few bumps in the road, mainly stormy weather that was rolling in throughout the morning. Kristen and Mark didn’t let it get them down – they wanted to celebrate in the outdoor ceremony space of course, but in the end they knew all that matters was that they were together, they were on their wedding day, and they were so ready to be married. They ended up having their ceremony inside, but the weather broke at exactly the right moment for them to end their celebration with a plate smashing and wedding day kiss. They were married, and now it was time to celebrate! They had an awesome reception filled with incredible dance floor moments – so many, I couldn’t narrow them down to fit in a blog post. I love celebrating with my couples and leaving them feeling like I’m just a guest on the dance floor. This is how we get such natural shots that really feel like you’re there when you look back at them, because they were taken by someone who had a guest point of view!
Congratulations Kristen and Mark. I hope we stay friends well beyond the wedding day.
