Capturing you two in your element is MY biggest thrill. You bring the romance.
I'll bring the energy
I’m going to start this post differently. Usually, I talk about the architecture of Hotel Bethlehem or the history of the “Christmas City,” but for Hugo and Paige’s wedding, the best way to describe the day is through the review Paige left me. She said:
“I’m not going to lie, I worried about how I would look on my wedding day. I wanted to look thin, beautiful, angelic and make sure I posed perfectly for every shot. When I received Marshall’s photos I realized he hadn’t taken any photographs of what I looked like, instead, he captured who I am. It was real and it was beautiful. Being able to capture the essence of another human is such an extraordinary gift and rarity these days. Marshall has a gift I believe many photographers wish they had.
When I read the quote below, I immediately thought of him. Thank you, again, for capturing the real me on my wedding day. I am forever grateful.
“There is one thing the photograph must contain, the humanity of the moment.”— Robert Frank”
Hotel Bethlehem is an iconic, grand venue, but it’s easy to get lost in the “stiffness” of a ballroom. My goal for every wedding here is to break through that and find the raw, unscripted moments. Whether it’s the quiet nerves in the suite or the chaos of the dance floor, I want you to look back at your photos and see who you are, not just what you looked like.
The lighting and space in the larger suites at Hotel Bethlehem are a game-changer for documentary photography. It gives us room to breathe and capture those candid “getting ready” moments without feeling cramped. Plus, the classic decor serves as a timeless backdrop for those first few hours of the day.
If you’re planning a first look, you don’t have to stay right on Main Street. There is a beautiful ivy-covered path located right behind the hotel. It’s private, quiet, and offers a lush, organic contrast to the stone and brick of the city. It’s the perfect spot to have a private moment before the day kicks into high gear.
One of the best parts of a Hotel Bethlehem wedding is being right in the heart of the Christmas City. I love taking my couples for a quick walk downtown. We can get a great mix of urban architecture, historic brickwork, and that classic “Main Street” vibe. It adds a bit of edge and variety to your gallery that balances out the elegance of the ballroom.
This day would have never come together the way it did for these two if it weren’t for the awesome team behind all the details! Here is a list of the vendors who took part of the day, and a link to their website if you want to go check them out!
