There is something about the rolling hills of Kutztown that feels a little bit like a hidden escape, and Folino Estate is the centerpiece of that vibe. Every time I step onto this property, I’m struck by how they’ve managed to bring a genuine touch of Tuscany to the Lehigh Valley. Whether you’re walking through the vines or tucked away in the barrel room, it’s a venue that demands a documentary eye to capture the mood correctly.

When Jaclyn and I had our initial consultation, I knew immediately that we were going to be a perfect fit. Jaclyn is one of those people who just radiates energy and kindness. It was clear from the jump that her and Patrick weren’t just planning a wedding; they were curating a vibrant, high-energy experience for their people.

From the four distinct dress changes Jaclyn pulled off seamlessly to the deep cultural elements woven throughout the day, this was a celebration that felt both grand and deeply personal. It’s rare to see a day with this many moving parts feel so grounded, but these two made it look easy.

Looking back at this gallery, I’m reminded why Folino Estate really has it all when it comes to the grounds. As a photographer, I’m always hunting for “pockets” of light, and this venue is full of them. Depending on the time of year or even the hour of the day, the vibe completely changes.

One of my favorite things about Folino is how they’ve laid out the flow of the day. The transition from the Vintner’s Ballroom to the Piazza for cocktail hour is phenomenal. It feels expansive but never disconnected. There is a specific kind of ease that comes with a venue that understands the way that guests typically flow. The staff there is fantastic and they genuinely prioritize the experience of the couple, which makes my job of capturing honest, unforced moments that much easier.

We caught some of my favorite sunset photos to date out near the vines. There’s a specific point where the light hits the Kutztown hills and everything just turns gold. It was the perfect backdrop for a day that was already so full of life.

Time Your Portraits for the Vines

Folino is all about that Italian-villa aesthetic. The best light for the vineyard rows happens about 30–45 minutes before sunset when the sun dips low enough to glow through the leaves. If you’re planning your ceremony time, work backward from “Golden Hour” to ensure we have time to get out into the vines when the light is at its most cinematic.

Utilize the Barrel Room for Mood

If the weather doesn’t cooperate or if you want something more “editorial,” the barrel room is incredible. The dark wood and rows of wine barrels offer a moody, sophisticated contrast to the bright, airy vineyard shots outside. It’s easily one of the best “Plan B” (or even Plan A!) indoor spots in the region.

Maximize the Piazza for Guest Experience

The outdoor Piazza is beautiful for cocktail hour, but it can get intense in the mid-summer sun. My tip? Ensure there is plenty of shade for your guests or plan for refreshing signature drinks. From a photography standpoint, the architecture of the building provides a great backdrop for those candid, “party-vibe” shots of your guests mingling.
